Brad & I decided to take a very spontaneous trip to NYC this past weekend. Brent & Camille went the week before and Layne & Angela went with us. Lance & Mindi are going in August.
Here's the deal. Our dentist - the best one around..Silverado Family Dental... had some tickets to a few NY Yankees games (thanks Garth!) - the only catch was that the games were in NYC and they were for three different games. We had a great excuse to jump on it since this is the last year the Yankees will play in 'The House that Ruth Built! So we all scrambled to book flights & hotels, other than that we were just planning on wingin' it! I'm so glad we decided to go.
The trip started off a little rocky. Our flight (on Sunday Morning) ended up being diverted to Buffalo, NY (after circling for an hour over PA) because of bad weather. We ended up staying there for a couple of hours before we were cleared to fly into JFK. We were suppose to arrive at JFK at 3:10 pm. We ended up landing shortly after 10:00 pm. We didn't care how late it was! We went out walking for over almost 2 hours after we got to the hotel - we ate a slice of real thin crust pizza, walked down Madison Ave, visited Times Square & stumbled across Rockefeller Plaza - all between 11:00 pm - 1:00 am on Sunday night/Monday morning.
We slept for about 3 hours before getting up to visit the Today Show. We didn't get on TV because we didn't want to stand around and waste time when we had so much to see, so I snapped a few pictures and off we went to the Top of the Rock - 30 Rockefeller Plaza (30 Rock for those of you that watch the show - we love it!). We took some pics there and enjoyed some really cool sights from that high (Empire State Building, Central Park, the Harlem River, the Hudson River, and a construction sight below us - don't laugh!). After that we walked to Central Park and walked around a little bit after we took some pictures. It is a beautiful park. We had a little shopping to do so we found a few Yankees shops and spent way too much on our boys there, then we went to The American Girl store to get dolls and stuff for our girls. I'm ashamed to admit how much we spent on our kids, but they're worth it! Before we headed to the shop for the girls stuff we popped into a deli to get some lunch. I got a pastrami on rye while everyone else got burgers (beef & turkey) - whimps. After that we went back to the hotel for a (very) litte while, rested up a little bit and freshened up for....
THE YANKEE GAME!
It was a blast! Their stadium is so old - they should have built the new stadium so long ago. We got there 2 hours early (by subway - that was an adventure) and spent some time taking some pictures of the players while they warmed up before the game. We walked around a little, shopped & ate a sweet sausage on a bun and a footlong before the game. As we made our way up to our seats we just tried to take it all in - it is a neat place to see first hand. We didn't make it out to see Monument Park, but we got a good picture of it. The Yanks got their butts kicked by Baltimore, but the trip was still worth it. The ride back to Grand Central station on the subway after the game was CRAZY! I think we all got felt up more than once. I'm surprised Angela didn't end up hurting herself - she could not keep her balance because the ride was so jerky. (Sorry Ang - it was funny!)
We ended our busy day by visiting the Pizza parlor again, but this time we took it to go. We munched on pizza, gourmet salad & NY cheesecake with strawberries in our hotel room before we packed up our suitcase. We were home in LV by 10:30 am yesterday. It was a very quick trip but we are both so glad we went. Here are some pictures from our adventure!

All these pics look so familiar..oh yea its cuz they are all in my inbox on my cell phone! And, while I was looking through all the pics, my son was insistant that the pic of you and brad at the game is 'mama'!
Those were great pics of A-rod and Jeter warming up right before they got smoked by the Orioles. Go Braves......next year.

hi Leslie (Im Lenzi's friend and Ambers sister) I was blog hopping.. and I came accross your yankee pictures. We went to a Yankee game in anaheim this year. It was so mych fun!! My hubby is a major Yankee fan! I am going to try to get him to NY one of these days to see a game there! Go Yankees!
