My dream home

I just finished up my lunch and thought I would do a quick post before getting back to work. I meant to post this last week after someone e-mailed it to me. Isn't this crazy? I got such a kick out of it!

Swimming & Boxing

We spent part of Saturday swimming at Grandma and Grandpa Johnson's house. After swimming we came home and had our own little boxing competition. (It might sound like a weird combination, but it works for us!) Keep on reading to see who dominated!

Well of course it's Zoë! T-Bone was doubled over in pain while he was falling to his knees!

Actually, Zoë kicked my butt, too. I just told Brad the camera was out of memory so he couldn't take any pictures of me being humilated by my 7 year old. She has a wicked right hook!

The minds of children

Zoë brought home an assignement that she did with her reading buddies (Madison & Emma). It is a book that has Zoë's answers to some silly questions. Here are some of the answers:

Q: What do you think is the stupidest thing in the world?
A: Two newborn baby lions kissing.

Q: What is the weirdest thing in the world?
A: A teacher with no brain.

Q: What is the highest thing in the world?
A: All of the grown ups in the world all stacked up!

I'm happy to say that she has the ability to think out of the box. Definitely a trait she got from Dad!

11 Years & still counting!

Brad & I celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary on April 19th. It is wonderful being married to your best friend! We spent some time looking back on the last 11 years we have spent together and were very humbled at how far we have come in such a short time. We have seen each other grow through various church callings, the births of our children & many other experiences. We are very lucky to have the family and friends that we have as well. Without you all we would not be where we are today. We love you!

We also did other stuff this weekend that had absolutely nothing to do with our anniversary. Friday was Field Day for Zoë and I volunteered to help out. It was great and the weather was very cooperative. Trevor had a T-ball game on Saturday morning, Zoë attended a birthday party at Chucky Cheese Saturday afternoon, then it was time for FIGHT NIGHT! We had a blast, as usual. All the regulars were there - our family, Brent & Camille and their kids, Layne & Angela and their kids, Lance & Mindi and their kids, Dave Denton, Dustin & Leah, Dave & Karla, and new to the group was Johnny & Stephanie Johnson. We had a great time and ate some yummy food.

All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better anniversary weekend!

FIGHT NIGHT!

I think I surprised Dave when I took this picture! Brad, Ang, Camille & Brent were ready with their best smiles! I think my flash woke Zane up.

Dustin & Leah are such cheesers! Johnny was really into this fight (or was it between rounds? For some reason he couldn't take his eyes off the screen then - hmmmm) - and why is Stephanie hiding? I wonder what Brent & Dave are laughing about......

This was right before the main event - Serra vs. St. Pierre. (This is the back of Brad's head and a side view of Karla.) Everyone wanted GSP (St. Pierre) to win, even though he is Canadian and Serra is from the USA. The fight was in Montreal, CAN so it's nice that GSP won. It was great - he won by TKO in the 2nd round. We had some really good fights this time. The first fight on the card was pretty bloody (sorry Camille & Steph!) but we didn't see much blood after that, at least not much compared to the first fight!

Jax wouldn't leave Johnny alone. Sorry Johnny! Please come back to my house again!

Susie kept us entertained between fights with Hannah Montana songs.

1. Jobs I've had: Hostess at Red Robin, the Robin at Red Robin (yes - I dressed in the stupid Robin costume, OK?!), CCSD - Specialized Teacher Assistant working with mentally challenged kids at Palo Verde HS, various jobs at Children's Heart Center (Medical Assistant, Back Office Manager, currently the Grants Manager & Credentialing Specialist/Supervisor - I've been here for almost 15 years), but most importantly I am a MOM!

2. All the places I have lived: Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Las Vegas - I told you I was boring!

3. 4 favorite movies: Tombstone, Parent Trap (the original), the Bourne movies, the Harry Potter movies

4. 4 favorite foods: anything with lemon, cheese enchiladas w/red sauce from Dora's, cheesecake, frozen strawberry yogurt from the Carnation shop at Disneyland - the last time they had it was over 5 years ago..it's very frustrating that I can't have it anymore!


5. 4 weird things about me: I hate the feel of cotton so I have to lick my Q-tips before I clean my ears - I know, it's gross. I hate the sound of styrofoam when it rubs together. I hate odd numbers - even numbers make life so much easier. I love going to the dentist, even though I hate paying the dental bill and my heart pounds out of my chest every time I get numbed up with Novacaine.


6. 4 favorite shows: The Office, Rob & Big (I'm so bummed that it's over!), How It's Made, Almost anything on DIY, but I do love New Yankee Workshop - who doesn't like Norm Abrams?



7. Places I'd love to go: France, Australia, NY NY, South Carolina so my husband & kids can see it - I went there a lot when I was little to visit my Mom's family and it's beautiful, green, peaceful & laid back.

Update

We've been pretty busy since our last post! The kids are back to school after track break, Zoë got the stitches out of her hand (there ended up being 3), and we enjoyed a wonderful General Conference last weekend (I guess two weekends ago - wow I'm really behind). This past weekend began with baptisms at the temple followed by Cheesecake Factory (way too late, but still yummy). I finally caught the most recent episodes of the Office and Ron & Big, too. Not too shabby for a Friday night! This past Saturday we attended the Nelson family reunion and had a great time. I didn't feel very good toward the end so we ended up leaving a little early, but we had a good time.

I stressed out all week last week about what to include in my sharing time this past Sunday and I finally decided to talk a little bit about forgiveness and then focused the rest of the time on learning as much as we could about President Monson's life. I think I made an OK choice - at least I got something out of it. I have many faults, and forgiving people for hurting me or a loved one is one of the hardest things for me to do. I am so quick to defend and strike back, and not in the most loving way either. And I hold grudges - I am awful at that.

ANYWAYS - President Monson has led such a great life. He was a very young Bishop - 22 - and I thought I had a young bishop(ric)! (But my bishopric does rock - seriously!) Moving on - he became a General Authority at 36, that's not much older than I am now. His favorite color is yellow. His mother was a huge example to him in his life and taught him much about serving others. And he is so funny. I don't think I have ever laughed for that long during General Conference! I tend to believe that he must have raised his kids in a funny home - I like that. If you know Brad, you know he is funny. I don't mean just 'ha ha' funny - he is so quick on his feet and so sarcastic - and I love that my kids are just like him! They are quick to laugh, joke and poke fun at each other, and that makes me happy.

Anyhow - this is not a witty or exciting post, but this is as exciting as I get! I'll take pics of the fight night this Saturday - now that will be exciting! Go GSP!

Monster Jam

Brad and Trevor had a great time at Monster Jam this year. This is the 3rd year they went and they like it more and more each time. They went with Joe & Jayce and Gary & Andrew. The boys had a great time taking in the sights and watching the races.

Tough Girl

Our Zoë is one tough cookie! She got a splinter in the palm of her hand in Disney World (over a month ago!) and it started bugging her two Sundays ago. We tried our best to 'fix it' over this past week, but we had no luck. We decided a trip to the ER was in order, so this past Sunday that's what we did. We were then treated to a trip to the hand doctor yesterday where it was decided that the best thing to do would be to put her to sleep and clean her hand out. The first thing we did was arrange for her dad and our friend, Dustin, give her a blessing so she would feel more at ease about what was going to happen.

This morning Grandma Johnson met us at the surgery center bright and early for the surgery. They ended up fishing out a 1 inch piece of wood from the palm of her hand. She never once said it hurt - ever! She would only say that it was itchy. We are so thankful for priesthood blessings and for all of the doctors and nurses who were so good to her! She is already feeling better and she in now only stressing out about how she is going to write at school next week. It should prove to be an interesting week or two at our house!
