Baptism

Zoë's baptism will be held on Saturday, July 5th at 5:00 pm at the Sunrise Stake Center on Hollywood & Kell. We would love it if all of you could attend! She will also be confirmed this day.

Late over, swim parties & Libby Lu

This weekend started off with Zoë's 'late over' to celebrate her 8th birthday. She invited her cousins, Primary friends and a school friend. We ate yummy snacks & cake, painted our nails, watched 'Camp Rock' and opened birthday presents. It was a blast!

We were invited to two birthday/swim parties on Saturday and attended both, even though they over-lapped each other. The first two pictures were at the house of a co-worker of Leslie's. Trevor is in mid-air in the first one and Zoë is about to hit the water in the second one. Trevor is having fun singing with Elmo in the 3rd one.

This party was at a house on Sunrise Mountain. Sorry the picture is so dark. I you look close you can see the temple spires (that's probably spelled wrong....) on the left of the picture below the tree. (Yes - below the tree!) We were so high! The pool is through the gate on the right of the picture. It has a diving board and the kids were dissapointed that I didn't get any pictures of them jumping in. I was a little too busy jacking up the settings on Dave's new cell phone while he swam with his kids - it was pay back. He stuck ice down my shirt earlier in the party and it went all the way down out of the bottom of my capris! I also accidentally spilled my cup full of ice water down his back before giving him his phone back. (oops! It was Brad's idea.....) This picture is Trevor wacking the piñata that Susie made. It was a cute lady bug.

Today was Mommy & Zoë day. (Each of them get Mom to themselves one day out of the year around their birthday time. They get to choose what they want to do and where they want to go.) Last year Zoë wanted to go and play the midway games at the NY NY hotel, which was a blast I must say! This year she chose to get a makeover at Libby Lu. She got her hair and nails done, chose a DJ headpiece and rainbow hair piece for her accessories, and made her own 'Sparkle Spa' kit complete with perfume, soap, hand gel, and about 10 other things that I can't remember right now. We went to lunch in he food court in the mall after Libby Lu and then shopped for a new dress for her baptism day. We had no luck at all - are there no dresses out there with sleeves?!?! It was driving me crazy! We have yet to find a cute, fancy, modest dress for her. Hopefully we'll luck out soon.

Sorry to expose you to this picture of me, but I had to show off the necklace that my Dad made for me at Girls Camp this year. Zoë has one, too. Isn't it cute? I think it's just a giant washer with designed contact paper stuck to it, and it's laced up with necklace string and a jewelry hook. I have had so many compliments on it! He made all us girls brown and pink bracelets last year, but mine wore out a long time ago!

Father's Day - again!

These are the pictures I couldn't get scanned into my computer in time for my Father's Day post. I finally got it done tonight! Speaking of Father's Day - I have to give a shout out to Ryan & Michelle whose little guy was born yesterday. Congratulations guys!

Happy Birthday Zoë!

(I typed the draft to this on 6/17, but her birthday is today, 6/18!)

We can't believe that our first born is 8 years old! It seems like last week we were bringing her home from the hospital - just a tiny little bundle in the back seat of the car.

Zoë is a beautiful little girl and a wonderful daughter, sister, grand daughter, cousin, friend, student..I could go on and on. We love to watch her grow, learn & develop her talents. She has quite a little testimony and is not shy about sharing it with others. She has a great future as a member missionary and will no doubt influence many people throughout her life. Zoë is so excited to get baptized in July and can't wait to start attending Activity Days starting next Wednesday. We love you Zoë!

Happy Father's Day Brad!

I can never top Brad's 1st Father's Day present (our first born, Zoë), but I hope he had a great Father's Day today. We love him so much. We all made him pancakes, eggs & bacon for breakfast this morning and were so happy to spend some time with him before he headed off to his Sunday morning meetings. We decided to give him an IPOD since all of us got brand new ones for Christmas. We hope he enjoys it.

Father's Day wouldn't be complete without wishing Grandpa Johnson & Grandpa Campbell 'Happy Father's Day', too. We love you both so much - we don't know where we would be without you! Happy Father's Day to all you Daddies out there!

(As soon as I figure out my scanner I'll post some pics of him with the kids when they were babies. They're too cute! I also have a picture of my Dad with Trevor when he was a baby - it's one of my favorites!)

Skater Girl

Thanks to Amber I have some pictures of Zoë's first skateboarding class. (Thanks Amber! Now I don't feel like such a slacker Mom for forgetting my camera!) She is taking this class at the Hollywood rec center and really likes it. It's nice having Tanner in the same class - now I'll have someone to talk to while they're skating. Her teacher is a girl and there is also one other girl in the class, so she was happy not to be the only girl.

She learned some basic tricks, a little skateboarding history, she made it in and out of the bowl and even had her first big fall. It's a beginners class, so everyone took their turn biting the dust, but one of the older boys in the class made it to Zoë after she fell before the teacher made it to her. It's nice to see that other parents teach the kids how to be compassionate, too. Zoë is usually the first one to help someone who gets hurt so it's nice to see her be the recipient, even though she had to get hurt in the process.

Anyhow, she's the one in the red shirt. The teacher didn't take them into the bowl until after Zoë fell, so she was a little hesitant at first, but she did it. The first thing I told her when she expressed interest in skateboarding was that she is going to fall and get hurt even after she gets comfortable skating, and that she should not give up. I am so proud of her for toughing it out and for actually being excited to go back to class.

Lunch time post....

I was looking for something in my desk (at work) this morning and I came across these pictures. I have no idea why they are here, but they made my day! Over the past few weeks I have been missing the early days of my kids' childhood. They are growing up way too fast and it just makes me sad sometimes, but it also makes me focus on the present. It makes me realize that I need to make the most of today, because soon today will be yesterday and it just might end up being a yesterday that is forgotten all together! I'm just having a sappy moment I guess. I just wish I could shrink my kids down to a smaller size, just for a day. It's much easier to cradle them in my arms when they are little. I should know - I still cradle them sometimes when we're all alone. I'm just not ready to give that up yet! Anyhow, on with the memories!
